Welcome to the 2026–27 academic year!
Whether you are beginning your medical school journey or returning to continue your studies, we are delighted to welcome you to another exciting year in the Undergraduate Medical Education program.
This year marks an important milestone for our program. With the addition of 20 new seats, we are proud to welcome an expanded incoming cohort of 128 students. This growth reflects both the increasing need for physicians in Saskatchewan and our shared responsibility to prepare future physicians who are ready to serve patients, communities, and the healthcare system with skill, compassion, and purpose.
The accreditation visit for the 2026 cycle has now been completed. It provided an important opportunity for reflection and growth. We are grateful to all members of our program whose thoughtful contributions supported this work. The insights gained will continue to guide us as we strengthen our program, grounded in accountability and continuous improvement.
Around the globe, immense pressure on healthcare systems is reshaping how we practice medicine. In this context, our role as educators and learners is not only to respond to these challenges, but to remain curious and grounded in the needs of our patients and the communities we serve. We encourage you to approach your learning with curiosity, humility, and a willingness to ask questions; especially when it comes to patient safety. This mindset supports deeper understanding, stronger clinical judgment, and greater precision in diagnosis. Ultimately, medicine is a journey where we continue to find purpose through service, reflection, and connection.
We strive to foster a learning environment grounded in professionalism, gratitude, and mutual respect. Truly, it takes a village to train a physician. We recognize the essential contributions of our administrative and support staff, whose work behind the scenes sustains our programs and who are the backbone of our program. We are equally fortunate to have faculty and clinical teachers whose expertise and commitment shape your learning. Together, their guidance and support are central to your growth as competent, patient-centered physicians.

Student Guides
The following guides are for learners within the UGME program at the University of Saskatchewan, College of Medicine. The Undergraduate Student Information Guide is applicable to all years. The Clerkship Guide is focused on important resources for students in Years 3&4, and is also applicable to those in Year 5.
Each guides contains detailed information on important resources, policies, and procedures. MD learners are encouraged to familiarize themselves with this material.
The Undergraduate Student Information Guide is one of several documents of the CoM, University of Saskatchewan, in which information about the Undergraduate Program may be found. It contains general information about philosophy, policies and procedures of the undergraduate program as well as overview of the curriculum.
Clerkship consists of Years 3 & 4 of the undergraduate medical education program. The clinical clerkship allows students to apply their basic knowledge and skills acquired in the first 2 years of medical school in the clinical setting. Students will work under the supervision of clinical faculty and other health care providers to care for patients.
Included in this guide are all policies relating to clerkship, promotion standards, as well as general information regarding each campus/site.
All policies that pertain to Year 3 & 4 also pertain to Year 5.
