There are three primary cycles MD students at the College of Medicine can apply to for awards and funding. These awards and funding comes from a variety of sources including the College, donors, the Alumni and Community Program, and a variety of health organizations.

Scholarships & Bursaries

To access the College of Medicine Bursaries, students must do the following:

  1. Log into the Scholarships and Bursaries channel in PAWS
  2. Click "Apply for awards"
  3. Select “2025 College of Medicine Bursaries” from the “Current Students” drop-down menu
  4. Click “Apply” 
Deadline: November 15, 2025

Continuing Awards

Continuing awards are bestowed on students based on the previous academic year with a few set aside for first-year students. Awardees are announced at the College of Medicine Fall Formal. 

In order to be considered for the College of Medicine Fall Awards Application, you must complete and submit it through PAWS no later than August 31, 2025.  To access the application:

  1. Log into the Scholarships and Bursaries channel in PAWS
  2. Click "Apply for awards" 
  3. Select “2024-2025 College of Medicine Fall Awards Application” from the “Current Students” drop-down menu
  4. Click “Apply”

Deadline: August 31, 2025

Graduation Awards

Graduate awards are set aside for MD students in their final year. They are bestowed at the Graduation Banquet and Awards Ceremony in June of each year based on merit which includes academic achievement.

In order to be considered for the competitive College of Medicine Grad Awards, you complete the following application form and submit it through PAWS no later than April 17, 2026. To access the application:

  1. Log into the Scholarships and Bursaries channel in PAWS
  2. Click "Apply for awards" 
  3. Select “2025 College of Medicine Grad Awards Application” from the “Current Students” drop-down menu
  4. Click “Apply”

Deadline: April 17, 2026

FAQs

Funds are desposited directly into your student account to go toward tuition. If you have no tuition, you can request a reimburesment.

Funds are released within 24 hours of receiving your award letter. Award letters are released at the following times: 

  • During the Fall Formal Banquet and Awards Ceremony
  • During the Graduation Banquet and Awards Ceremony

If you are receiving a bursary, you will be notified in mid-March. 

To see which awards you can apply for, you can view the awards database. You can refine your search by College and any other relevant categories.

If you would like to thank the donor who sponsors the award you receive, please contact the Advancement Office. Instructions will also be included in your award letter.
