The Shame Conversation. Shame is a normal and deeply personal emotion that regulates our social behavior and is critical for societal functioning. It can also be damaging, chronically experienced, and pathological, and it is deeply embedded in the culture of medicine.  The Shame Conversation's goal is to bring shame to the surface, examine its presence in healthcare, and build a more resilient culture.

Program Curriculum

The program curriculum for the CE program at the University of Saskatchewan is shaped by the Royal College requirements for the program.

The competency-based design of the AFC program allows candidates to finish the program earlier, as long as they successfully complete the unit tasks, assignments and portfolio activities.  Depending on candidate's tailored circumstances, some units may be completed concurrently.

The CE Diploma consists of four mandatory units:

  1. Foundations
  2. Teaching & Learning
  3. Curriculum
  4. Assessment

Each unit is anticipated to take the candidate 2-3 months to complete.

There are three prescribed selective experiences, with each candidate selecting two of these three units:

  1. Simulation
  2. Leadership
  3. Scholarship

The total duration of this elective time is anticipated to take six months.

Thank you to McMaster University! The USask CEd program would like to give a huge acknowledgement to the McMaster CEd program.  They have graciously shared their documents as well as their website format and content.  We would not have been able to pull this program together without their support.  Specifically we are grateful to: Karen Finlay, Jonathan Sherbino, Teresa Chan, Jordan Hamilton and Brooke Taylor.
