Behind every scholarship, bursary, and award is a story, a person, family, or community who chose to invest in the future of health care. Their charitable gifts reflect a belief that supporting students today will strengthen the care, research, and leadership our communities depend on tomorrow. Philanthropy is not reserved for a select few; it is built through acts of generosity, vision, and legacy that create lasting impact for generations to come.

If these stories inspire you to learn more about supporting medical education and student success at the College of Medicine, we invite you to connect with us. Together, we can help shape the future of health care for generations to come.

Spotlights

The Medicine Chest Award in Indigenous Virtual Health was established by Dr. Jarol Boan (MD), medical practitioner and author of The Medicine Chest. The award is granted to a student who demonstrates an intention to learn the clinical and cultural aspects of Indigenous health. The student must also intend to utilize remote and virtual programs to address barriers to healthcare access for Indigenous Peoples of Saskatchewan in their future practice as a pathway to reconciliation, reciprocity and advocacy.

The Margaret Cotton Memorial Bursary was established by Dr. David Cotton, medical practitioner and professor emeritus of the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Medicine. Inspiration for the bursary came from a place of compassion for both students and patients. It aims to support aspiring students who face financial challenges while pursuing medical education.
