Anatomy Physiology & Pharmacology
Masters of Science (MSc), Doctor of Philosphy (PhD)
Research in Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology (APP) spans the breadth of biomedically-relevant subjects, from molecular genetics to cellular neuroscience to microanatomical imaging and beyond. Across our campus, there are specialized research facilities such as the Canadian Light Source, Canada's only synchrotron, and the Cameco MS Neuroscience Research Center. The APP MSc and PhD programs enable life-long careers in basic or clinical realms of the biomedical sciences.
Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology
Masters of Science (MSc), Doctor of Philosphy (PhD)
The Biochemistry, Microbiology & Immunology Graduate Program offers graduate programs leading to MSc and PhD degrees. The Program has the expertise necessary for the instruction and training of advanced students in areas that include analytical biochemistry, cell biochemistry, cell biology and cancer, enzymes and metabolism, nucleic acids and gene expression, plant biochemistry, protein structure, cellular and molecular biology of eukaryotes, microbial genetics and molecular biology, immunology, medical microbiology, microbial physiology, and virology.
Community Health and Epidemiology
Masters of Science (MSc), Doctor of Philosphy (PhD)
The Department of Community Health and Epidemiology within the College of Medicine offers Community and Population Health Sciences MSc and PhD programs. These programs prepare students for academic careers or to work in a variety of health and policy related workplaces. Students prepare a research thesis or dissertation. Course work and seminars develop skills in community engagement, epidemiology, biostatics, research methods, health promotion, and evaluation. These skills can be applied to various areas including population and health studies, evaluation of health services and delivery, and health policy.

The Health Sciences Graduate Program is a unique research-based program within the College of Medicine open to all departments. The areas of study encompassed by the program are extensive including, but not limited to, clinical sciences, physical therapy, and social accountability. The flexible nature of a research-based program allows students to develop a more profound respect for all aspects of the research process, and refine their professional skills for future applications.
Occupational Therapy
Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT)
Occupational Therapy improves life participation through rehabilitation, adaptation, equipment acquisition, and health promotion. Occupational Therapists are health professionals who work with their clients, of all ages and abilities, to assume or resume the skills they need to complete the occupations involved with the job of living. These occupations involve tasks or activities that occupy your time and energy, such as bathing or mowing the lawn. Occupations vary with age, abilities, interests, and responsibilities, and can be affected by illness, disease, or circumstance. Occupational Therapists work with people to achieve their occupational goals of everyday life.
Physician Assistant Studies
Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS)
Physician Assistants are health care professionals that work under the supervision of licensed physicians, but have autonomy to perform a wide range of clinical tasks and procedures. By nature, Physician Assistants work in teams with many other health professionals in clinics, hospitals and communities. Learning alongside and from other health sciences students will strengthen interprofessional relationships that can support stronger, more team-based health care in the workplace.
Physical Therapy
Master of Physical Therapy (MPT)
Physical therapy (physiotherapy) is a dynamic and challenging health profession dedicated to improving and maintaining physical mobility, independence, health and well-being. Physical therapists are primary health-care professionals who provide valuable health care for people of all ages within a broad range of practice settings. They assess levels of mobility, strength, endurance and other physical abilities to determine the impact of illness or injury on physical function, whether at work, rest or play. They diagnose movement disorders and develop treatment plans to restore movement and reduce pain or limitations to mobility.
Speech-Language Pathology
Master of Speech-Language Pathology (MSLP)
Speech-language pathology is a dynamic profession focused on the identification, diagnosis and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders among individuals across the lifespan. Speech-language pathologists may practice independently or as part of an inter-professional team, in public and private sectors. The scope of practice includes a broad range of clinical and other professional services.

The Postgraduate Medical Education office (PGME) is committed to working with residents to ensure that their educational experience during the time they spend at the University of Saskatchewan will provide them with the best possible program to meet their needs in relation to their future career goals. The role of the PGME office is one of coordination - with residents, with teaching hospitals, various stakeholder agencies and with departments and program directors.

Certificate in Global Health
Certificate
The Certificate in Global Health is a 2-year course open to students in the College of Medicine and School of Rehabilitation Science. The certificate offers a holistic education for participants that is grounded in anti-racism, anti-oppression, intersectionality, interprofessional & interdisciplinary collaboration, and community engagement. The content of the program focuses on health equity, social accountability & advocacy, global citizenship, that are required to meet the needs of populations which have been historically marginalized by oppressive policies. Including the structural drivers of health inequity and the impacts on lived experience of people.
Clinician Educator Diploma
Diploma
Clinician Educators are active in clinical practice, apply theory to their education practice, engage in educational scholarship and serve as consultants on educational matters. The Clinician Educator Diploma (CEd) Program is an Area of Focused Competence (AFC) accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Clinician Investigator Program
The Clinician Investigator Program (CIP) is a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certified program, and is available to residents that have demonstrated interest and potential for a career as a clinical investigator. The program accommodates training in diverse research areas ranging from basic and correlative science studies of disease pathogenesis to epidemiological investigations of social/population determinants of health.
