Terms of Reference

Purpose

  1. Review resident evaluations.
  2. Discuss individual residents and determine promotions.
  3. Discuss residents with concerns and arrange remediation or probation as needed.
  4. Discuss and approve FITERS.

  • Head, Division of General Surgery

  • Elected R3 to R5 Resident Representative - elected

Chair

The Evaluation Committee Meetings are chaired by the Program Director.

Frequency of Meetings

The Evaluation Committee meets quarterly each academic year with special meetings called at the discretion of the Program Director (eg. CaRMS, FITERS). The meetings will take place at the conclusion of the RPC Meeting.

Quorum and Attendance

A minimum of three attendings and a resident attendance at four out of six meetings will serve as a quorum for the Evaluation Committee. 

Reports to

The Evaluation Committee reports to the Head of the Department of Surgery and the Associate Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education.

The Evaluation Committee is a subcommittee of RPC and membership consists of the RPC Committee faculty members and one elected R4 resident representative.
