About

Dr. Bennet Onwuzurike, graduated from the University of Jos, Nigeria, with an MBBS degree in 1983. He did his internship at the Queen Elizabeth Specialist Hospital (Now Federal Medical Centre) Umuahia from 1983 to 1984. This was followed by a one-year compulsory National Youths Service Corps posting to the Nigeria Airforce Medical Centre, Enugu from 1984 to 1985. Following the completion of the national service, he proceeded to Kano sate Nigeria where he worked as a general duty medical officer from 1985 to 1990.

In his passion and determination to provide better medical service to patients, he proceeded in1991 to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH)Enugu for a postgraduate Residency/Specialist training, of the West Africa College of Surgeons.  He successfully completed the program and was awarded a fellow of West African college of Surgeons (FWACS), specializing in Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1998.

Following the completion of specialist training, was appointed a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist with Imo State government in Nigeria, from 1998 to 2002. Desiring more academic and professional laurels, he proceeded to the United Kingdom in 2002 for more education, training and specialist experience.

After a period of successful training and retraining in the United Kingdom, he completed his further specialist training with the award of Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in Obstetrics & Gynecology in 2012. This was followed by a further special interest training in outpatient hysteroscopy and ambulatory gynecology from 2012 to 2014.

He worked as Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist with the NHS Hospitals in England & Wales from 2014 to March 2024 before relocating to Canada in April 2024 to take up a position as a Specialist OBGYN doctor at Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, Moose Jaw SK.

Has a postgraduate diploma in medical education from the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. The skill gained from this training/education has been very useful in teaching of junior/resident doctors, medical students, nurses and midwives.

He is a member and fellow of many professional and civil society groups:

  • Member Society of Obstetricians & Gynecologist of Canada (SOGC)
  • Member Society of Obstetrician & Gynecologist of Nigeria (SOGON)

Happily married to Evang Mrs. NkiruBen Onwuzurike (JP) & is blessed with four children.
