Dr. David Poon BMSc, MD, MPH, CCFP (GPP), FRCP
Assistant Professor Division of Public Health and Preventive Medicine

Dr. David Edward-Ooi Poon is the Medical Health Officer of Northern Medical Services, working to meet the public health needs of Northern Saskatchewan. He also works clinically as a physician psychotherapist at an addictions clinic, working on adverse childhood experiences, PTSD, and institutional trauma. His interests are in the intersection of mental health and public health. Born in Regina, he completed his medical school at the University of Alberta, and his Public Health and Preventive Medicine residency, including family medicine, at the University of Toronto. He received his Masters of Public Health at Columbia University (the same school as his hero Spider-Man) and is currently completing a Masters in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy at Oxford. He aims to support resident wellness and exam preparation.
