CPR and First Aid Instructions for Students Entering Year 1

General Information

• The College of Medicine requires that all students entering the College of Medicine complete and provide documented proof of Standard First Aid with CPR BLS and AED.
• Completion of the CPR BLS and First Aid requirements is the responsibility of the student as well as any associated costs.

CPR and First Aid Instructions for Students Entering Year 1

  1. Incoming MED students are required to complete Standard First Aid with CPR BLS and AED before their two pre-clerkship years. Please provide copies of your certification to the UGME (B526) office by September 13, 2019. Your certification must remain valid until June 1, 2021.
  2. We understand that you may have already completed these requirements or plan to complete them independently. We recommend that you confirm that your certification meets the requirements of the College of Medicine prior to Orientation.
  3. To help facilitate the process, the College of Medicine has reserved several dates for the course with SHARALIFE FIRST AID INC. The cost for completing this course with SHARALIFE is $105/student.
We have reserved three dates for MED Students on a first come, first serve basis:
  • August 17
  • August 18
  • August 24

This is a one day Blended Learning course, the participants will complete an online component (The Canadian Red Cross will email them this link upon registration) before they come in to complete the one day in class. The course runs from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. To register through SHARALIFE, please contact Sarah at (306) 244-4517 and specify that you are an incoming MED Student.
