U of S School of Physical Therapy earns full accreditation

The Master of Physical Therapy Program at the University of Saskatchewan has been awarded full accreditation through to April 30, 2021

The Master of Physical Therapy Program at the University of Saskatchewan has been awarded full accreditation through to April 30, 2021. This follows a thorough review conducted by Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada (PEAC), the accrediting agency for physiotherapy education programs in Canada.

“This recognition and successful accreditation outcome recognizes the School of Physical Therapy’s quality of education, research and community support, not to mention a legacy of strong leadership and collaboration,” said Stephan Milosavljevic, director of the school. “This has not been a random process, but is the culmination of a school with vision and strategic direction supported by faculty, staff and an engaged professional community.”

In their written review, accreditors commented, “the Master of Physical Therapy Program at the University of Saskatchewan should be proud of this strong review. The program demonstrated numerous strengths, including faculty who are engaged and excited to be working within the School of Physical Therapy and with the students.”

The accreditors also noted the program’s high quality and comprehensive evaluation plan, encouraging the school to share it with their peers as a model. Additional strengths noted by the accreditors included leadership of interprofessional education initiatives, cultural competence, professional practice curricular content and clinicians feeling engaged with the school.

The school’s next accreditation activity will be the submission of a progress report to PEAC on June 30, 2016.

The school graduates 40 Masters of Physical Therapy students annually, and is part of the College of Medicine.
