Congratulations to three Department of Medicine researchers who received grants from the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation (SHRF). Dr. Bhanu Prasad (MD) and Dr. Donna Goodridge (PhD) received 2019-20 Collaborative Innovation Development Grants, which are designed to address health challenges particularly relevant to Saskatchewan. Dr. Sheyl Fowler (MD) received a 2019-20 Sprout Grant for patient-oriented research.

Dr. Prasad is in the Nephrology Division in Regina. He was awarded support for a feasibility study of a randomized controlled trial investigating renal denervation as a possible treatment option in patients with Loin Pain Hematuria Syndrome.

Dr. Goodridge is a member of the Respirology, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Division in Saskatoon. She was awarded funding for her work looking at the influence of health literacy and self-efficacy on treatment acceptance and adherence in patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. The Lung Association, Saskatchewan is a funding partner with SHRF on this project.

Dr. Fowler is a member of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Division in Saskatoon. She was awarded funding support for her work on Medicinal Cannabis in Inflammatory Bowel Disease: The experience of patients in Saskatchewan.
