Dr. Kate Johnson was born and raised in Saskatoon, a city which she is so proud to call home, especially when the enchanted prairie winter hits. Before her return to her the alma mater, she was privileged to pursue her medical training in several locations gaining broad perspective and insight into international oncological practice.

Dr Johnson completed undergraduate education in neuro-systems and plasticity engaging in a physiology fellowship conducting research in stress and its relation to disease. From an early age she developed a keen passion for comprehensive wellness and furthered her studies to become a physician which led her to complete medical school and internal medicine residency at the University of Saskatchewan. She then pursued Radiation Oncology and completed her residency in Winnipeg MB. She also undertook additional oncology training at the BC cancer agency, Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton AB, Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, AB, London Regional Cancer Program in London, ON and brachytherapy training at the Cancer Centre in Vienna, Austria. Dr Johnson’s specific areas of interest were engrained in her training to focus on brachytherapy technique in genitourinary and gyencological malignancy. She is the tumour site chair lead in gynecological radiation oncology and serves as a supervisor for medicine students and residents at the UofS as well.
