Dr. Joanne Sivertson was born and raised in rural Saskatchewan and spent her undergraduate years at the University of Regina. She then went to medical school at the University of Saskatchewan, where she also subsequently completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency. She has been working as a general OBGYN in Prince Albert since completing her residency. Dr. Sivertson is currently serving as the Interim Provincial Department Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Sivertson has a passion for system improvement and physician leadership. She spent 9 years on the board for the Saskatchewan Medical Association, including 4 years on the executive. In 2017-2018 she was President of the SMA. Dr. Sivertson is the academic site coordinator for medical students and residents and has a particular interest in caring for women with HIV and addictions.
