Dr. Rashmi Bhargava obtained her MD from the University of Saskatchewan in 1991 and then following a year of rotating internship at the Ottawa General Hospital (1992) and 1 year of Residency in General Surgery (1993) she found her love in women's health and completed her fellowship in OBGYN at U of S in 1997. She is in her 24th year of practice in Regina, SK as a general OBGYN. She is an Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine (CoM) and has recently been appointed the role of Undergraduate Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology for the Province of Saskatchewan and Director of Faculty Engagement (Regina Campus). She still holds the title of Site Lead for Year 2 clinical skills sessions as well as the Year 3 Clerkship Coordinator at the Regina campus.

Her most recent exciting endeavor is becoming the Canadian delegate to the prestigious UMEC (Undergraduate Medical Education Committee) of APGO (Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics) in 2020. To tie all the pieces together, she has taken on Co-chair of the UG committee of Academic Council of SOGC (2021). Dr. Bhargava’s passion lies in developing O&G curricula and innovative simulation scenarios for teaching purposes and OSCE’s for medical students. She is an ALARM instructor and an Examiner for the Royal College. She has been granted numerous teaching awards over the last 10 years regionally and nationally. The most prestigious ones being the 2019 Certificate of Merit Award from the Canadian Association of Medical Education (CAME) and 2021 Carl Nimrod Award by the Academic Council of the SOGC (Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada) in recognition of her work and dedication to the betterment of Obstetrics and Gynecology education.
