About

Scott J. Adams, MD, PhD, MEd, FRCPC is a cardiothoracic radiologist at Royal University Hospital.

Dr. Adams received his MD and PhD from the University of Saskatchewan, studying as a Vanier Scholar and receiving the Governor General’s Gold Medal. He completed clinical and research fellowships in cardiovascular and thoracic imaging at Stanford University, Harvard Medical School, and Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed a Master of Education degree in Higher Education at the University of Toronto and received an Honors Certificate in Medical Education from the Stanford University School of Medicine. He joined the faculty of the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, where he was appointed Undergraduate Medical Education Program Director in the Department of Medical Imaging and Director of Research for the Virtual Health Hub.

Dr. Adams’ clinical and research interests are at the intersection of cardiothoracic imaging, artificial intelligence, and improving access to care for underserved populations. His work has been published in leading journals such as The Lancet, Journal of the American College of Radiology, and the Canadian Medical Association Journal, and he has presented at numerous national and international meetings. He has received national and international awards including the Artificial Intelligence Health Research Fellowship from Innovative Medicines Canada, President’s Award from the American Roentgen Ray Society, and Amis Fellowship from the American College of Radiology.

Passionate about advancing healthcare through health research, medical education, and leadership, Dr. Adams has served on the board of directors of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame and Canadian Association for Medical Education. He has promoted research and innovation as President and Board Chair of the Saskatoon Regional Science Fair and has helped advance artificial intelligence, medical imaging, and patient and family-centred care through his research and service on committees of the Canadian Association of Radiologists, American College of Radiology, and North American Society for Cardiovascular Imaging.
