About

Scott J. Adams, MD, PhD, FRCPC is a cardiothoracic radiologist at Royal University Hospital. 

Dr. Adams received his MD and PhD from the University of Saskatchewan, studying as a Vanier Scholar and receiving the Governor General’s Gold Medal. He completed clinical and research fellowships in cardiovascular and thoracic imaging at Stanford University, Harvard Medical School, and Massachusetts General Hospital, and received an Honors Certificate in Medical Education from the Stanford University School of Medicine. In 2023 he joined the faculty of the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, where he was appointed Undergraduate Medical Education Program Director in the Department of Medical Imaging.

Dr. Adams’ clinical and research interests are at the intersection of cardiothoracic imaging, artificial intelligence, and improving access to care for underserved populations. His work has been published in leading journals such as The Lancet, Journal of the American College of Radiology, and the Canadian Medical Association Journal, and he has presented at numerous national and international meetings. He has received many national and international awards, including the Artificial Intelligence Health Research Fellowship from Innovative Medicines Canada, President’s Award from the American Roentgen Ray Society, and Amis Fellowship from the American College of Radiology.

 Passionate about advancing healthcare through health research, medical education, and leadership, Dr. Adams has served on the board of directors of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame and Canadian Association for Medical Education. He has promoted research and innovation as President and Board Chair of the Saskatoon Regional Science Fair and as a judge for the Canada-Wide Science Fair, and has helped advance artificial intelligence and patient and family-centred care through his research and service on committees of the Canadian Association of Radiologists and American College of Radiology.
