About

Dr. Tyler Maltman is a board-certified integrative medicine physician. His goal is to provide the best possible healing-oriented care by identifying the root cause of his patients’ health concerns.

Dr. Maltman completed his medical training at the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine in June 2011. During medical school, he took the opportunity to work in hospitals in Marilia, Brazil, and Middleburg, South Africa. Following that, he travelled around the world studying integrative techniques, which also included completing his 200-hour yoga teacher training in India, training in addiction counseling at the Hazelden treatment center, and practicing intensive meditation during a 10-day Vipassana silent retreat in Sweden. He did his residency in family medicine through the University of British Columbia in Victoria, graduating in June 2014. During his residency, he spent a month working in a hospital in Vanuata, located in the south Pacific Ocean.

Over the past 7 years, Dr. Maltman has worked as a family physician at Bridge City Mediclinic in Saskatoon, as an assistant professor at the College of Medicine University of Saskatchewan, and as a part-time physician at the Student Wellness Centre at the University of Saskatchewan. He also completed two locums in New Plymouth, New Zealand, from March 2019 to May 2021. In February 2022, Dr. Maltman completed the two-year Integrative Medicine Fellowship through the University of Arizona, College of Medicine. He has also recently trained in multiple ultrasound-guided injection techniques to help people with chronic pain issues, including trigger point injections, peri-neural injections, hyaluronic acid injections, and cortisone injections.

Dr. Maltman has personally benefitted from taking an integrative medicine approach for his own health issues, including chronic pain in his injured shoulder. After being treated by an integrative team, he learned how to live an active and fulfilling life by managing his pain using healthy methods. It is this experience that inspires his current practices.

Dr. Maltman is committed to lifelong learning in the fields of medicine and health as well as growing his knowledge with the best evidence incorporated from current research. He is also committed to his own self-care so that he can share what he has learned with his patients.

In 2024, Dr. Maltman will publish his first book, Skelability, which will help people embrace their unique skeleton so they can move in the most safe and effective way possible to maximize their quality of life.
