Dr. Ahmed Shoker was born in Egypt, graduated from the University of Alexandria, Egypt and moved to Canada in 1981. He received his training in general medicine at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. He received his training in nephrology and transplantation at the University of Toronto where he received his fellowship training in transplantation between 1987 and1990. He then moved to the University of Saskatchewan.
Currently, he is a Professor of Medicine and Nephrology at the University of Saskatchewan. He is the Medical Director of the provincial Transplant Program.
His research interests include clinical trials and basic research in the field of immunosuppression and inflammation.
He authored or co-authored over 114 papers in his field. He received grants from the kidney foundation, Canada and the Saskatchewan government in addition to several grant in aid from several pharmaceutical companies.His current interest is the relationship between cardiovascular disease risk factors and inflammatory markers before and after kidney transplantation.
