Research Area(s)

  • Acute kidney injury
  • Frailty
  • Mortality and morbidity outcomes in renal disease
  • Critical care nephrology
  • Renal transplantation

Teaching

I am mostly interested in clinical education, especially simulation-based. I believe that problem-based learning, small group discussion and experiential learning are the solid foundations for safer, more confident medical practitioners.

Clinical Interests

I am most interested in clinical nephrology, especially diabetic nephropathy and acute kidney injury. As a critical care nephrologist, I am also very interested in providing excellent care to critically ill patients including applying and studying impact of care on outcomes on severity and recovery of acute kidney injury in the critically ill patients. Aprt from this, I also have a passion and a keen interest on performing invasive procedures.

Research

I am mainly interested in clinical research. My main research area is outcomes in relation to patients with renal diseases, ranging from mortality in acute kidney injury patients including those being cared for on Critical Care Units. I am also keen to analyze the real impact of pre-morbid frailty states on outcomes in renal transplant recipients, as well as critically ill patients. Finally, I am currently trying to evaluate the use of machine learning in predicting outcomes among AKI patients.
