Dr. Lei Xia MD, FRCPC
Assistant Professor Department of Anesthesiology

Saskatoon is the hometown of Dr. Lei Xia. He attended the University of Saskatchewan for his medical training as well as his anesthesiology training.

Following completion of his MD and Anesthesiology certification, he attended Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC, earning a Master of Arts in Health Leadership.

After practicing anesthesiology in Saskatoon for 1 year, he moved to Toronto for 2 years of experience practicing at Toronto’s Western Hospital. We were fortunate that following his time at Western, he moved home again to practice anesthesiology in Saskatoon, with a specific interest in Regional Anesthesiology.

Dr. Xia is the current Director of Quality Improvement and Safety in the Department of Anesthesiology. It is thus not surprising that Quality Improvement and Safety initiatives comprise the focus of both his research and clinical interests. His research also explores the Use of Technology in Education and Clinical Anesthesiology.
