Prince Albert site clerkship

Two former University of Saskatchewan medical students reflect on their clerkship experiences in Prince Albert.

There are many amazing reasons to study and learn in Prince Albert including the small program size and ample opportunity to practice your skills. Clerks in bigger centres can sometimes feel overshadowed behind residents, other clerkship students and pre-clerkship students.

In Prince Albert, you can be closer to the action. Clerks will be exposed to a variety of different cultures while working in Prince Albert. Victoria Hospital also offers longitudinal exposure to Emergency Medicine and opportunities to work within all specialities in six-week block rotations.

Prince Albert is the third largest city in Saskatchewan and is located 140 km north of Saskatoon.  It is situated on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River and is often referred to as the “Gateway to the North”. The city is surrounded by beautiful lakes, forest and an abundance of wildlife. The Prince Albert National Park is only 80 km north of the city and is a popular tourist and recreation destination.
