Roles of microglia in cisplatin-induced cognitive impairment and fatigue

presenter:

Dr. Marie-Ève Tremblay, PhD

Chemotherapy is often followed by cognitive (often described as“chemobrain”) and physical impairments that are detrimental to patientwell-being. Importantly, the impacts of chemotherapy on cognitive functionand fatigue often persist, even when patients are in remission. There is aneed to further describe the effects of chemotherapy on the brain in orderto better develop therapeutics to protect the brain during treatment. Usinga mouse model of chemotherapy and complementary microscopytechniques, notably 3D electron microscopy, we aim to further describe theimmuno-metabolic changes underlying the effects of cisplatin, a commonanti-neoplastic drug, on microglia, the brain, and behaviour.
