Winter 2020masud rana

Hi! My name is Masud Rana. I am the Biostatistician at the Department of Medicine, providing research support to faculty members and residents.

I am currently a PhD candidate with a specialization in Biostatistics at the University of Saskatchewan. I have an MSc in Statistics from the U of S and a B.Sc. and M.S. from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Bangladesh.

I have been working as a Biostatistician for 6+ years at different units at the U of S including the Clinical Research Support Unit and the Canadian Center for Health and Safety in Agriculture.

I have hands-on experience in the design and analysis of research projects targeted to further medical knowledge and improve research efforts in public health. My knowledge and expertise span a broad range of traditional and advanced statistical methods, including hierarchical models, spatial models, disease mapping, longitudinal data analysis, survival modelling, and cost-effectiveness analysis.

At the design stage of a research project, I can help choose an appropriate statistical method for answering research questions, calculate the required sample size, and write the statistical analysis plan for clinical trial protocols.

During the execution stage, I provide support by designing the randomization scheme and data-collection tool, managing databases, and checking the randomization process.

After data collection, I help to clean and analyze the collected data. I can also assist with writing the results section of the manuscript or reports.

If you are planning to design a new study or work on an existing project, feel free to contact me at masud.rana@usask.ca. I would be happy to help you with your research projects.
