Getting to Know Mark Walkner

Hi, I am Mark, the new Finance and Administrative Manager for the Department of Medicine. Prior to taking on this role, I was the Finance and Administrative Manager for six smaller departments within the College of Medicine that included the Department of Anesthesiology and the School of Rehabilitation Science where I worked for the past two years. Before coming to the U of S, I worked for the SHA as a manager of several outpatient departments at Saskatoon City Hospital and RUH.

I am a Physiotherapist by profession and did both my undergrad and MPT at the University of Saskatchewan. I was a practicing clinician at a number of private clinics for around a decade before I realized that I had a passion for leadership. My goal has always been to provide the best care and experience for clients, patients, and staff, as well as to help facilitate positive change.

Outside of work, I am busy spending time with my wife (who is also a Physiotherapist) and my two sons. We enjoy spending time outdoors; skiing, skating, sledding, and in the summer out on the water wakeboarding or paddleboarding.
