Dr. Mark Fenton (MD) will share on the topic of Sleep and Burnout. This important presentation, on a timely topic, is one of the free public lectures at the Highlights in Medicine Conference and is open to everyone.

Established in 2005, the Betty-Ann and Wade Heggie Lecture in Integrative Medicine seeks to provide continuing education opportunities for medical faculty, residents, and practitioners in the field of complementary and alternative medicine.

Bio of Dr. Mark Fenton:

Dr. Mark Fenton (MD) is the Division Head of Respirology, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine. He is also the Director of the Saskatchewan Lung Transplant Clinic. Dr. Fenton is a three-time alumnus of the University of Saskatchewan, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology, Masters’ degree in Pathology and a Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed Royal College fellowships in Internal Medicine and Respirology followed by additional fellowship training in Sleep Medicine and Lung Transplantation.

Lecture learning objectives:

  • Understand the importance of sleep in human physiology and function
  • Have insight into the dynamic relationship between sleep and burnout
  • Have insight into this relationship in the context of the practice of medicine
  • Have a framework for reflection on this issue in their own context
