Dr. Anita Chakravarti (MD) will share on How Do We Acheive Wellbeing Now? Building Connection, Compassion and Community

Established in 2015, the Dr. Anita Chakravarti Lectureship in Health and Wellness seeks to empower healthcare and service professionals to develop their personal health and wellbeing in the context of their workplace and community.

Bio of Dr. Anita Chakravarti:

Dr. Anita Chakravarti (MD) is a professor and Wellness Lead at USask Continuing Medical Education and a member of the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Medicine, and Associate Faculty at the Centre of Integrative Medicine.

In addition to providing services in Clinical Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and the St. Paul’s Hospital Pain Clinic, she was the first Medical Director of the Saskatoon Chronic Pain Center. Dr. Chakravarti was on the National Task Force to have Pain Medicine recognized as a sub-specialty of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Co-Chair of the Pain Education Committee of the Canadian Pain Society and Medical Advisor to the Canadian Pain Coalition. Dr. Chakravarti is a board member of the Saskatchewan Pain Society.

Dr. Chakravarti is a certified Facilitator and Faculty of Mindful Practice ® which incorporates mindfulness, narrative medicine and appreciative inquiry, and wellness and mindfulness sessions and keynotes. Dr. Chakravarti is C.E.O. of [M] Power Mindful Professional Practice.

Lecture learning Objectives:

  • Summarize the literature for healthcare provider wellness and discuss links to patient care and safety, sustained optimal performance and society.
  • Discuss wellbeing in context of individual, organizational, systemic, and cultural systems.
  • Describe evidence-based strategies to Increase connection, communication, and collegiality by promoting a culture of support, trust, respect, and compassion.
