Getting to Know: Emilie Wren
Emilie Wren is the Communications Specialist for the Department of Medicine.
Hi, I’m Emilie! I’m the person to email with any of your website, newsletter, and overall communications needs. Got a story for me? I want to hear it!
I grew up in Regina, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at the University of Regina. I’m also in the process of sorting out the final details of a Certificate in Indigenous Journalism and Communications with First Nations University of Canada.
Previously, I worked as a copy editor for the Carillon, the University of Regina’s student newspaper, and have done freelance work for SaskDispatch. Most recently, I worked with a team from across Canada to produce a series of articles about questionable practices in federal procurement strategies for Global News.
I just joined the department in May 2025, working part-time updating the website, making newsletters, and writing articles like this one. I’m still getting my footing here, but I’m greatly looking forward to learning much more about medicine and all the research being conducted by our department.
Outside of work, you’ll often find me at a bookstore or the library. You might even run into me at thrift stores or garage sales, on the hunt for more vintage bookends that I probably don’t have the space for.
