Dr. Paul Agboola (he/him) MD, FWACP (psych), MPH

Dr. Afis Agboola Paul is an Adult Psychiatrist at the Saskatchewan Health Authority, currently providing psychiatric services at Yorkton Regional Hospital. He joined the Mental Health and Addiction Services program in March 2026.

Prior to his appointment in Canada, Dr. Agboola served as the pioneer Head of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro, a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Mental Health and Neurosciences in Africa. In recognition of his leadership and contributions to mental health services, he was subsequently appointed Medical Director of the hospital in 2020.

Dr. Agboola initially trained as an Adult Psychiatrist and became a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in 2007. He later completed advanced clinical training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the United Kingdom in 2011, further strengthening his expertise across the lifespan of psychiatric care.

Throughout his career, Dr. Agboola has played a leading role in the provision of mental health services, psychiatric education, research, and professional training. He has worked extensively as a clinician in Africa and Europe and has participated in numerous international collaborations in psychiatry. He maintains membership in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

His clinical and academic interests span neurodevelopmental psychiatry, biological psychiatry, and addiction psychopathology. He has contributed to the scientific literature through research and scholarly publications in these areas.
