Clinical Interests

Dr. Appendino's main clinical-research interest includes EEG-Trends use in neuro-critical monitoring in pediatrics, drug-resistant epilepsy, genetic epilepsy, epilepsy surgery, ketogenic diet, and autism-epilepsy. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles and guidelines, book chapters, and edited a handbook of antiseizure medications for residents and trainees and has mentored several trainees.

Research

His research explores many aspects of epilepsy and genetic causes as well as epilepsy treatment and management, including neuromonitoring, epilepsy surgery and medical management. He also enjoys exploring other related topics in Pediatric Neurology as neuroinflammation and neuroinfectious disorders.
