At the reception, research prizes are presented.

The Department of Surgery Faculty Research Day occurred on Thursday, May 11th, 2023. A total of 69 people participated in our hybrid event. We had 10 presentations from surgery faculty and graduate students. Our keynote speaker was Dr. W. Bradley Jacobs, Associate Professor, Division of Neurosurgery, Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Calgary. He spoke on “Effective Team Building As A Path to Research Success”.

Resident Research Day

The Department of Surgery Resident Research Day occurred on Tuesday, November 17, 2022. 85 people participated in our hybrid event. We had 13 presentations from surgery residents and medical students. Our keynote speaker was Dr. Vince Biron, Associate Professor, Division of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery, University of Alberta & Alberta Health Services. He spoke on “Working Toward Precision Medicine in Head and Neck Surgery”.

The winners are: 1st Place Podium Presentation – Dr. Emily Chan (Orthopedics); 2nd Place Podium Presentation – Dr. Amit Persad (Neurosurgery); 3rd Place Podium Presentation – Dr. Eva Liu (Neurosurgery); Henry and Cheryl Kloppenburg Award – Dr. Emily Chan (Orthopedics); The Anne Dzus Student Surgical Research Award – Barzany Ridha (Undergraduate Medical Student); The Surgical Foundation Award – Dr. Eva Liu (Neurosurgery).
