Getting to Know: Kim Gilbert
Kim Gilbert is a program administrator in the Department of Medicine. She is based in Regina, Sask. and works with the team that supports the Post Graduate Medical Education (PGME) Core Internal Medicine Residency program.
“Sometimes I consider myself the personal assistant of 22 different people,” says Gilbert. Her role entails scheduling, leave requests, meetings, academic support, candy distribution and more.
“I’m a shoulder to cry on, or a ‘reprimander’ as needed,” she says. Her role also supports Regina Core IM site director Dr. Marc Reeson with all things resident-related, and she also works closely with the Saskatoon Core IM team.
Gilbert grew up in Eastend, Sask. – home of Scotty the T. rex. “Fun fact – Eastend got its name from being in the east end of the Cypress Hills,” she says.
Before joining the department three years ago, Gilbert worked in the emergency department at Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, Sask. Her educational background is in equine science and medical administration.
Outside of work she likes to spend time outdoors and horseback riding.
“I love reading and spending time with my husband and our menagerie of pets,” she says.
