Department of Academic Family Medicine

The Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Saskatchewan is delivered across eight diverse sites: Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, Swift Current, North West Saskatchewan, Moose Jaw, La Ronge, and now, South East Saskatchewan. They offer a third-year option in Enhanced Skills Program for residents seeking further specialization.

The program's small size is its greatest strength, ensuring residents receive ample clinical exposure without the need to wait in line for procedures. This allows for more personalized, one-on-one teaching with faculty. Many of the residents consistently express that they feel like part of a big family within the Department of Academic Family Medicine.

The curriculum is designed to meet the accreditation standards set by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Additionally, they offer flexibility with elective time over the two years, allowing residents to tailor their training to their interests and career goals.
