About the North West Site
Learn in a truly integrated immersive learning environment. The North West Family Medicine Residency Training Program is the only postgraduate training program based out of a large geographic area in Saskatchewan known as the North West. It is designed to be a learner focused program that places a strong emphasis on rural family medicine competencies. Residents have the opportunity to learn in a fully supportive environment, from Family Physicians & Specialists who base their teachings on FM competencies, making the exposure the Resident receives as relevant and as practical as possible.
The Area includes three cities and many rural communities, with full-service facilities/hospitals that are staffed with experienced faculty eager to support you in achieving your learning goals. Residents of the program benefit from low learner to faculty ratios and from gaining tons of knowledge and skills while providing care to a diverse population with a vast array of health care needs. As a Resident you will be one of fourteen learners, with your home base being the main teaching site, which is an accredited primary care practice, located in the city of North Battleford. The practice is housed in a large modern facility stocked full of experienced & dedicated faculty and staff.
Rural rotations, electives and selectives may be done at other locations. We look forward to welcoming you to the North West team!
