Yorkton has a population of 19,000 inclusive of surrounding rural areas. It is a diverse population and home to many different groups and churches. The local economy is based on agriculture and mining. There are a variety of grocery store and shopping options including local boutiques. There are local coffee and seasonal ice cream shops. Yorkton is the central hub for activities in SE Saskatchewan hosting various tradeshows and events. There is limited public transportation so a car is mandatory for rotation. HOSPITAL
Yorkton Regional Health Centre is the largest in-patient facility in southeast Saskatchewan, featuring 80 hospital beds including ICU, medicine, pediatrics, surgery and obstetrics with local specialists. 200 LTC beds. Visiting orthopaedics, ENT, and vascular surgeon. Virtual telehealth clinics for neurology and nephrology clinics.

CLINIC
  • 4-11 physicians depending on assigned clinic.
  • Clinic hours 8/9am to 4:30/5pm depending on preceptor.
  • ER call is 12 hours in-house, typically one shift per week. (0800-2000)
  • No travel to clinic outside of Yorkton.
  • Clinic uses Accuro EMR.
  • Diabetes educator RN and dietitian, exercise therapist, clinic pharmacist (once per week), cardiac/ pulmonary rehab nurse and nurse practitioner.
  • Multicultural staff.
