Celebrating 50 Years!

Department of Academic Family Medicine

July 2021 marks the 50th Anniversary of the University of Saskatchewan Department of Academic Family Medicine (DAFM).

The Department of Academic Family Medicine came into being in 1971 to encourage graduates of the (USask) College of Medicine to take their postgraduate training in the province and fill the need for family practitioners. Dr. Louis Christ, a family physician with a background in social services, was appointed head of the new department.

For fifty years we have educated family physicians in Saskatchewan and we look forward to celebrating with you over the course of the next year. This is an opportunity for all our past and present faculty, residents, students, alumni and staff to celebrate our past and look to our future.
