About

Rooted in Saskatchewan communities, the College of Medicine is committed to connecting. This commitment aims to foster strong, reciprocal relationships with communities and partners to enhance collaboration, relevance, and shared success across all our work. The DSA supports the College of Medicine in this work to engage with and learn from the diverse communities of Saskatchewan.

What is Community Engagement?

Adapted from the IPA2 Spectrum (International Association for Public Participation).

Community engagement describes collaboration between higher education institutions and their larger communities (local, national, global) for the mutual beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity (Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, 2026).

The DSA is committed to engagement and collaboration that will challenge systems of oppression for the goal of equitable health and social justice. Recognizing the valuable knowledge that communities hold, the DSA aims to create and hold space for diverse community voies to join us as educators, advisors, collaborators, and co-creators.

Our Partners

The College of Medicine works closely with community partners across its education, research, and service. Trusting relationships between staff, faculty, students, and community have been built over many years. These relationships are fundamental to the work of the collge and drive our collective success. Partnerships and opportunities are always emerging as we look to create, enhance, and sustain ways to meet priority health concerns in Saskatchewan.
