Dr. Jake Allison is a family physician and assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, based in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Since 2023, he has practiced broad-scope family medicine, including work in emergency medicine, addiction medicine/harm reduction, and long-term care. He completed his family medicine residency in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in 2023, holds an MD from the American University of Antigua (2021), an MBA in Healthcare Management from Walden University (2018), a Bachelor of Human Health Sciences from AUA (2018), and a Bachelor of Science with an Honours Specialization in Genetics from Western University (2015). Dr. Allison is actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, supervising medical students and family medicine residents in clinical rotations across his various practice settings. His academic interests include point-of-care ultrasound, mental health, and clinical teaching in community-based environments. In 2023, he received the Saskatchewan College of Family Physicians Resident Leadership Award in recognition of his leadership and service during residency. Outside of medicine, Dr. Allison enjoys life in Saskatchewan with his husband and their golden retriever, Dash.
Dr. Anderson is a sport medicine physician in Regina. He completed his medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan (2018). He then trained in family medicine at Queen's (2020) and completed a sports medicine fellowship at McMaster (2021). He is the assistant program director of the Sport and Exercise Medicine enhanced skills program at the University of Saskatchewan and also teaches in many roles at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Outside of the office, he enjoys being outdoors with his family and being in the gym.
Dr. Bailey recently joined the College of Medicine after practicing Clinical Gastroenterology in Calgary for 13 years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree at Queen’s University in 2001 followed by her Medical Degree (2005) and Residency (2008) in General Internal Medicine at the University of Alberta. Her GI Fellowship was completed at the University of Calgary (2010). She has served as a leader within the medical community including Associate Director of Student Advising and Wellness at the Cumming School of Medicine as well as a Calgary Zone Representative for the Alberta Medical Association. During her 13 years in Calgary, Dr. Bailey was active in medical education at each level of training which is the catalyst for which she chose to pursue the Clinician Educator Program. Dr. Bailey moved to Saskatoon with her family to raise their kids and be closer to their potato farm.
Dr. Jessie Baptiste is a General Internal Medicine specialist working since 2013 in Saskatoon, Sk. She also is the Internal Medicine Program Director and the Assistant Program Director for General Internal Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan since July 2021. Prior to that she was the Program Director for General Internal Medicine and has worked within the Uof S UGME as the Year 4 chair and was the CBD lead for General Internal Medicine. She completed her medical degree and core internal medicine training at the University of Saskatchewan before finishing her General Internal Medicine training at the University of Alberta in 2013.
Dr. Rachana Bodani graduated with her Medical Degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2009, after which she completed her psychiatry residency training at Western University in London Ontario. Shortly after beginning her clinical practise, she resumed further education part-time to first complete a diploma in sleep medicine, and later a Masters in Science in sleep medicine from Oxford University. Dr. Bodani has been actively involved in faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate education. She held the position of CME director for the Department of Psychiatry for 3 years, and currently holds the positions of the provincial psychiatry rotation director for clerkship, and the competence committee chair for the psychiatry residency program at the U of S. When she is not working, she enjoys travel with her family, trying new foods, and being the greatest and loudest fan of her 2 very active children.
Dr. Jeffrey Elder obtained his medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan in 2020. He is currently a senior resident in the FRCP Emergency Medicine program in Saskatoon. His interests include medical education focused on undergraduate learners. He joined the clinical educator diploma program in hopes of expanding his knowledge and pursuing a future career in medical education. In his spare time, he enjoys mountain biking and paddle boarding along the river in Saskatoon.
Olivia Friesen obtained a medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan in 2020 and completed her training in Internal Medicine in Saskatoon in 2023. She is currently a critical care fellow at the University of Manitoba. Her medical education interests include curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives. When she’s not at the hospital she can often be found in her garden, or on a hiking trail.
Dr. Carlyn Gardner is an emergency medicine physician in Saskatoon. She completed medical school at the University of Calgary, and family medicine and emergency medicine residency at the University of Saskatchewan. She has been practicing in Saskatoon ever since, working in adult and pediatric emergency medicine. Within the medical education community, she has an interest in simulation and is currently the Simulation Lead for the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. When she is not working or teaching, she loves to rock climb, run, and her and her husband are continually looking for delicious new recipes to try.
Dr. Fei Ge obtained her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Victoria (2018) and her medical degree from the University of British Columbia (2022). She recently completed her family medicine residency training in Saskatoon (2024) and will be joining the Department of Academic Family Medicine as a faculty member in the fall. For her teaching in residency, she was awarded the Department of Academic Family Medicine Resident Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching and the College of Medicine Medical Class of 1939 Resident Teacher Award. She is looking forward to working closely with residents and medical learners and expanding her knowledge of medical education through the Clinician Educator Diploma Program. Her interests include reproductive health, low risk obstetrics, educational media, and curriculum development. When she is not working she can be found perfecting her sourdough recipe, crocheting, or playing golf badly.
Dr. Robert Henderson is currently a senior resident in Family Medicine (Saskatoon), and completed medical school at the University of Saskatchewan as part of the combined MD/MBA program. In 2016, he obtained a PhD in physics at the University of Waterloo, and was a Lecturer in physics and mathematics there before moving to Saskatchewan. In addition to education, he has a long history of service to higher education boards and committees. He serves as one of the family medicine lead residents, and is currently an elected member of the University of Saskatchewan Senate sitting on the Education and Membership Committees. At Waterloo, he served on that institution’s Senate and Board of Governors for several years. His research interests currently include artificial intelligence in medicine and medical imaging, as well as medical education.
Dr. Zach Huschi is an internal medicine resident in Saskatoon. He completed his medical school at the University of Saskatchewan and developed a love for medical education when he had the opportunity to design and implement a new near-peer teaching initiative for pre-clerkship medical students. He joined the clinical educator diploma in hopes of building the foundation for incorporating medical education into his future career. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time in nature with his partner and their new dog or snuggled up with his two cats at home.
Dr. Kraushaar obtained her undergraduate training, majoring in Biology, at the University of Regina. She then received her Medical Doctorate (MD) degree in 2007 at the University of Saskatchewan and was awarded the PM&R Award. She completed her residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Saskatchewan in June 2012. Dr. Kraushaar has been practicing in Regina at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre since completion of her training. She is very interested in medical education and teaches both medical students and residents. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan. She is a Committee Member of the Lower Extremity Wound Pathway and an Associate Member of the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology. She is also the Course Director for Medicine and Society 301 at the College of Medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, decorating and home design, and is an active participant in her family business.
Dr. Paige Landy is originally from Toronto, Ontario. She completed her medical school in the UK at both the University of St Andrews in Scotland, and Manchester Medical School in England. She returned to Canada and completed her Pediatrics residency at McMaster University and her Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at Western University. She has recently joined the Pediatric Emergency Department at the Jim Pattinson Children’s Hospital and is excited to explore life in the Prairies. She has a passion for education and has worked on many educational projects throughout her training and is excited to have formal training in the specialty. In her spare time she likes to play with her puppy, read and bake treats.
Dr. Oni is a general pediatrician at the FH Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw and Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatrics, University of Saskatchewan. He completed medical school at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, and pediatric residency in Ireland. He has a passion for teaching and is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents. He also has the privilege of filling various leadership roles within the department. He is a NRP and PALS instructor and was Co-Lead for Pandemic Simulations for the FH Wigmore Regional Hospital. In his spare time, he plays tennis, or tries his hands on some woodwork in his makeshift workshop.
Dr. Segun Oyedokun obtained his medical degree in Nigeria and completed his family medicine training in South Africa. He relocated to Saskatchewan in 2003 and for two years supported rural Saskatchewan communities as a Rural Relief Locum Physician, after which he was accepted into the CCFP-EM Residency Training Program in Saskatoon. Dr. Oyedokun currently practices in Saskatoon as an Emergency Physician and Trauma Team Leader with the Saskatchewan Health Authority. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at the College of Medicine, and a Transport Physician with STARS and Saskatchewan Air Ambulance. Segun joined the Saskatchewan International Physicians Practice Assessment (SIPPA) team in October, 2022 as an Assistant Program Director supporting the Supervision phase of the SIPPA program. He is actively involved in patient oriented research and quality improvement initiatives.
Dr. Nishma Patel was born in London England and was raised in Regina Saskatchewan. She completed her postgraduate residency training in Psychiatry at the University of Saskatchewan Dr. Patel is the Regina Psychiatry Residency Program Site Director. She is also actively involved in medical education within both the undergraduate Psychiatry clerkship program, and the postgraduate Psychiatry residency training program. Currently, she sits on the Provincial ED/ Psychiatry Referral Working Group and Nursing-Resident Communication Working Group, while also dedicating time to facilitate and evaluate residents completing mock oral exams and structured patient interviews. Dr. Patel is an acute care psychiatrist in Regina, Saskatchewan, working as the fulltime psychiatrist in the Emergency Department at the Regina General Hospital. Her clinical areas of interest include medical education, quality improvement as it relates to patient handover, and acute psychiatric stabilization, particularly involving substance-induced agitation and psychosis. Outside of her clinical work Dr. Patel is dedicated to her family and enjoys travelling, cooking, and being a proud mom to her two young daughters.
Dr. Shaqil Peermohamed obtained his Bachelor of Science in 2008 from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, where he was a Chancellor’s scholarship recipient, and MD degree in 2011 from the University of Calgary. He trained in Internal Medicine from 2011 to 2014 and then completed his sub-specialty training in Infectious Diseases at the University of Toronto in 2016.He completed his Master of Public Health through the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, with a focus in clinical effectiveness. He joined the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Saskatoon Health Region in July 2016 and is currently an Associate Professor and Infectious Diseases consultant within the Department of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. He is the Physician Lead for the Saskatchewan Health Authority (Saskatoon Area) Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. His research interests include antimicrobial stewardship, quality improvement and medical informatics. He has received the Teacher of the Year Award (2017 and 2021) and Distinguished Lecturer Award (2018, 2019 and 2021) from the University of Saskatchewan Internal Medicine Residency Training Program. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tabletop games and traveling, and is a self-proclaimed cold brew aficionado.
Dr. Alixe Pellerin was born and raised in Saskatoon, SK. Alixe completed a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Saskatchewan in 2011 and went on to become a Registered Nurse in 2015. Before entering medical school, she worked as an emergency room nurse. Alixe completed medical school at the University of Saskatchewan and is now a PGY-5 at the University of Saskatchewan Anesthesiology residency program. Alixe is one of the co-founders of Airway Breathing Coffee, a free medical education website that creates anesthesia focused infographics for medical professionals and the public. She also co-founded Airway Breathing Conversation, a podcast created with the goal of providing anesthesiology-related information for care providers and patients. During residency Alixe sought out teaching opportunities such as core clerk teaching, ultrasound and simulation for medical students. During residency she was awarded the CAME Rising Star Certificate of Excellence in 2024, the Resident Award for Excellence in Clerkship Teaching in 2023 and the Award for Excellence in the CanMEDS Collaborator Role in 2023. Alixe joined the Clinical Educator Program to provide a solid foundation for a future role in medical education. Alixe is interested in digital education, simulation and POCUS. Outside of the hospital Alixe enjoys walking her chocolate lab, going to hot-yoga with her co-residents, baking and spending time at the lake with her husband!
Fiyin Peluola is a practicing Child and Adolescent psychiatrist in Regina. Raised in Saskatoon, Fiyin completed his residency in general adult psychiatry and fellowship training in Saskatchewan. Professionally, Fiyin’s clinical interests include early psychosis intervention, neuro-developmental disorders and acute care. He serves as the assistant site director for the Regina Psychiatry Residency Program and is a CanReach faculty member. For leisure, Fiyin is learning how to play golf and loves perusing grocery stores for ingredients to use in his culinary exploits. Fiyin is happily married to a fellow physician who also practices in Regina. They are proud parents to a baby boy named Nathaniel and a 4 year old Shiba Inu.
Dr. Mac Russell is a senior emergency medicine resident in the FRCPC Emergency Medicine Program at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He was born in Saskatoon where he completed both his undergraduate and medical degrees before starting residency in 2020. When Mac is not on shift, you’ll either find him on the golf course, exploring a lake in northern Saskatchewan or running/cycling along the Meewasin Trail. Mac’s interest in Medical Education has evolved throughout his training and he hopes the Clinician Educator Program will continue to grow his knowledge and experience in the field.
Madhav Sarda is the program director for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program and also serves multiple roles with the Psychiatry residency program as well as teaching undergraduate medical students. He's a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan Child and Adolescent Psychiatry residency program and did his undergraduate medicine degree at the University of Alberta. He lives in Saskatoon with his wife and two kids.
Originally from a small town in rural Alberta, Dr. Shwetz obtained her medical degree at the University of Alberta before CaRMS sent her east to the University of Saskatchewan for her Emergency Medicine Residency. After completing her fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the UofA in 2022, she returned to Saskatoon to work as an emergency physician in both the Children's and Adult emergency departments, while also working as a Trauma Team Leader and as part of the Code Blue Team. She holds a small research position with the Department of Emergency Medicine, and her primary focus is on the readiness of Saskatchewan's general emergency departments to manage critically ill and injured children. She hopes the Clinician Educator Diploma program will enhance her skills as an educator and curriculum builder in her role as team lead for the Saskatchewan TREKK Roadshow team and as she builds a PEM Fellowship in Saskatoon.
Dr. Emily Sullivan is a family physician in Saskatoon and started practicing at Academic Family Medicine at West Winds Primary Health Centre in 2018 after completing her medical training at the University of Saskatchewan. She currently works there part-time where all shifts involve teaching and supervising residents and medical students. Through AFM, she is also the Saskatoon site director of Faculty Development. Her other clinical roles, which also involve teaching during most shifts, are FM-obstetrics, and running a breastfeeding medicine clinic at Cornerstone Medicine Clinic.
Dr. Van Dijk is an emergency medicine physician in Saskatoon. Born and raised in New Brunswick, he moved to Saskatoon in 2017 and completed medical school, family medicine residency, and the CCFP-EM program all at the University of Saskatchewan. He is involved with teaching medical students and residents in the emergency department as well as in simulation sessions, and hopes incorporate medical education as a larger part of his career moving forward. Outside of medicine, he is a board game enthusiast, plays volleyball and soccer, and loves experimenting (sometimes successfully) with the latest cooking techniques.
Dr. Wardell completed medical school, internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Saskatchewan followed by clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Calgary. He has been in practice for 10 years and has been in the role of Adult Cardiology program director at the University of Saskatchewan since 2021. Cardiology education has always been an interest of his and he is hoping this program will add valuable tools to help make the cardiology program in Saskatoon even better. Outside of work, he keeps busy with four kids playing minor hockey in Saskatoon. He has also developed an interest in endurance fitness science and is interested in learning how to apply to his cardiology practice.
Dr. Oriana Watt is a family physician based in Prince Albert. She completed her medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan in 2010, and then trained in Family Medicine in Prince Albert, completing the residency program in 2013. She currently has a comprehensive medical practice in Birch Hills, SK. Alongside her clinical work, she is an Assistant Professor at the College of Medicine, and is involved in Preclerkship medical education where she is both a Course Director, and the Chair of Clinical Skills. She also enjoys teaching both Preclerkship and Clerkship medical students, where she passionately extols the virtues of Family Medicine. When she is not in the office, she can be found driving her children to their multitude of extracurricular activities, at various rinks and soccer fields, or enjoying birdwatching in her beloved Prince Albert National Park.
Dr. Wunder is originally from a farm near Theodore, Saskatchewan and completed both Undergraduate and Medical degrees at the University of Saskatchewan. He also holds an Associateship to the Royal Conservatory of Toronto (ARCT) in Piano Performance. He has been practicing at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre since the completion of his training. He is involved in teaching at the College of Medicine at the undergraduate level and has been the Program Director for the residency training program since November 2016. He has initiated changes in the structure and design of the outpatient clinic at Wascana. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan. He has an interest in technology in medicine and has served in various roles including co-chair of the standards committee for the Provincial Computerized Orders Management project, pandemic virtual care physician co-lead, as well as a member of the Saskatchewan Medical Association's EMR Co-Management and Health Informatics Committees. He is also currently enrolled in the Clinician Educator AFC Program through the University of Saskatchewan. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, home design and renovation, traveling, and technology.
