CPR and First Aid Instructions for Students Entering Year 1

General Information

  • The College of Medicine requires that all students entering the College of Medicine complete and provide documented proof of Standard First Aid with CPR BLS and AED. The College of Medicine only accepts certificates from Canadian providers.
    • Completion of the CPR BLS and First Aid requirements is the responsibility of the student as well as any associated costs.

CPR and First Aid Instructions for Students Entering Year 1

  1. Incoming MED students are required to complete Standard First Aid with CPR BLS and AED before their two pre-clerkship years. Please submit copies of your certification to MEDC 111 on Canvas by Tuesday, September 3, 2024. You will have access to Canvas once you are registered in your courses (Registration WindowYour certification must remain valid until June 30, 2026.  BLS is a one-year certificate and will require recertification prior to beginning your second year of pre-clerkship.
  2. We understand that you may have already completed these requirements or plan to complete them independently. We recommend that you confirm that your certification meets the requirements of the College of Medicine prior to Orientation.

Regina Students:

It is the student’s responsibility to complete this training. Dates have been reserved for the course with Armour Safety Inc. in Regina. The cost for completing this course with Armour Safety is $135/student. We have reserved two dates for MED Students on a first-come, first-served basis:

  • Sunday, August 11, 2024
  • Saturday, August 24 2024 

This is a one-day Blended Learning course, the participants will complete an online component (The Canadian Red Cross will email them this link upon registration) 2 days before they come in to complete the one-day in-class practical portion. The course runs from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. To register through Armour Safety Inc., please contact Mallory at (306) 352-8805 and specify that you are an incoming MED Student.

Students must attend the Armour Safety location that they signed up to attend. Regina and Saskatoon locations are not affiliated with one another and unable to transfer your course purchase to the other location.

Saskatoon Students:
It is the student’s responsibility to complete this training. Dates have been reserved for the course with SHARALIFE FIRST AID INC. in Saskatoon. The cost for completing this course with SHARALIFE is $135/student. We have reserved three dates for MED Students on a first-come, first-serve basis: 

  • Saturday, August 17th, 2024
  • Saturday, August 24th, 2024
  • Sunday, August 25th, 2024
